Association Operating Calendar

The Association Operating Calendar shows when certification courses and other regularly scheduled educational programs meet throughout the year. The calendar contains four 13-week quarters: September-November (Fall), December-February (Winter), March-May (Spring), and June-August (Summer). Each quarter includes 11 weeks in which regular course sessions may be scheduled and 2 break weeks, for a total of 44 scheduled course weeks and 8 break weeks across the year.

One-year courses generally schedule one session during each of the 44 non-break weeks. Six-month courses follow the same calendar structure at an accelerated pace, with two sessions scheduled during each non-break week. Quarterly courses may likewise schedule one or two sessions per week depending upon the total instructional hours of the course.

The same annual calendar structure is also the schedule we recommend for music studios. Publishing the calendar in advance gives teachers, students, administration, and staff clear periods for instruction as well as planned breaks for holidays, professional development, planning, and rest.
