Our Vision

Music education has the power to change lives.

A child who discovers the joy of singing. A teenager who finds confidence through performance. A family that gathers around music in the home. A teacher who inspires generations of students. A community brought together through shared musical experiences. These moments may seem small, but together they shape people, strengthen relationships, and enrich the culture we all share.

Our vision is a world in which every person has the opportunity to build a lifelong relationship with music, guided by confident, well-prepared teachers who are supported by a thriving professional community.

We envision music education that is connected, creative, joyful, and deeply human. Music education that develops not only technical skill, but also curiosity, confidence, creativity, understanding, collaboration, discipline, empathy, and a lifelong love of learning. Music education that welcomes every learner while encouraging genuine excellence.

We believe that great teachers deserve more than methods and materials alone. They deserve clear educational frameworks, meaningful professional development, practical resources, supportive colleagues, thoughtful mentorship, and opportunities to continue growing throughout their own careers. When teachers flourish, they are able to help more students flourish.

We envision students who do more than prepare for the next recital or examination. We hope they become musicians who continue singing, playing, listening, creating, performing, and sharing music throughout their lives. Whether they become professional musicians, dedicated music teachers, enthusiastic community musicians, or simply people who continue finding joy in music, every lifelong relationship with music enriches both the individual and the communities they serve.

We also believe that music belongs to everyone. The world's musical traditions are among humanity's greatest shared treasures, and every student deserves opportunities to encounter beautiful music from many cultures, historical periods, and artistic traditions. By honoring the enduring masterpieces of the past while embracing the creativity of the present, we help students develop broad musical understanding and lasting appreciation.

This vision extends beyond individual lessons, schools, and studios. It reaches families, neighborhoods, places of worship, community ensembles, concert halls, classrooms, and every place where people gather to make and enjoy music together. Strong music education contributes to stronger communities because it strengthens the people who make those communities possible.

The Dennis Frayne Approach to Music Education, The Dennis Frayne Association for Music Education, and The Dennis Frayne Ascent were created to help make this vision a reality. Together they provide an educational philosophy, a professional community, and a lifelong framework for recognizing meaningful musical growth.

We know that this vision cannot be accomplished by one teacher, one school, or one organization alone.

It grows one student at a time.

One teacher at a time.

One family at a time.

One community at a time.

Together, we are strengthening music education because music education strengthens people.
