Teacher Membership

Professional Support for a Teaching Career

Music teachers encounter new questions throughout their careers. New students, repertoire, teaching settings, technologies, responsibilities, and professional goals continue to ask for new knowledge, musicianship, judgment, and perspective.

Teacher Membership brings together practical teaching resources, professional learning, coaching, curriculum access, and a community of fellow educators who can help teachers work through those questions. Whether you are beginning your career or have decades of experience, the Association provides opportunities to strengthen your teaching, deepen your musicianship, exchange ideas, and build a rewarding life in music education.

Who Teacher Membership Is For

Teacher Membership is for music educators who value ongoing professional learning, practical support, and collegial exchange. Members teach in many different settings and at many stages of their careers, but share an interest in becoming more knowledgeable musicians and educators and helping students build lasting relationships with music.

Teacher Membership welcomes music educators in the United States from a wide variety of teaching settings, including:

  • Independent music teachers

  • Community music school teachers

  • Public school music educators

  • Private school music educators

  • Early childhood music teachers

  • College and university instructors

  • Church and worship music leaders

  • Performing musicians who teach

  • Retired music educators who wish to remain active in the profession

Build a rewarding and sustainable career.

Through mentoring, coaching, professional resources, and opportunities within the Association, Teacher Membership helps educators think about these parts of professional life together and make decisions that support a rewarding career over time.

Ways to Participate More Deeply

Teacher Membership provides the foundation for participation in the Association. Members may choose to pursue certification through the Dennis Frayne Approach to Music Education, become Endorsed Teachers after meeting the applicable requirements, or eventually qualify as Teachers of Teachers with opportunities for mentoring and leadership.

These pathways allow teachers to choose the level of study, participation, recognition, and responsibility that fits their professional goals. Membership can remain valuable at the Teacher level, while additional opportunities are available for educators who want a deeper relationship with the Association.

Teacher Membership Levels

The Dennis Frayne Association for Music Education offers three levels of Teacher Membership. Each reflects a different kind of relationship with the Association, from access to resources and professional community, to public endorsement, to mentoring and leadership responsibilities.

Teacher

Designed for music educators seeking resources, curriculum access, community, certification opportunities, and professional growth. Teachers can be certified, uncertified, or uncertified but working toward certification.

Endorsed Teacher

Designed for certified teachers who desire a deeper partnership with the Association, including public endorsement, professional recognition, expanded resources, and studio support.

Teacher of Teachers

Designed for experienced educators committed to mentoring, leadership, and helping develop the next generation of music teachers.

Teacher Membership Pricing

Why Dennis Frayne Association Membership Is Different

Many professional organizations provide conferences, publications, advocacy, networking opportunities, sometimes exams and merit programs, and various valuable resources for music teachers. Their work has strengthened the profession and continues to benefit educators across the country.

The Dennis Frayne Association for Music Education seeks to complement that work by focusing on something intentionally different: the everyday practice of teaching.

Our membership is designed to be personal, practical, and deeply connected to what happens between teachers and students each day. Members gain organized access to a growing body of teaching philosophy, curriculum, professional development, articles, videos, and classroom resources. They become part of a supportive community of educators, participate in ongoing conversations with Dr. Dennis Frayne and fellow teachers, receive practical help solving real teaching challenges, and have opportunities to pursue certification through the Dennis Frayne Approach to Music Education.

Membership is organized around putting ideas into practice. A teacher may need help sequencing a new concept, finding repertoire for a particular student, strengthening musicianship, developing a healthier studio, working through a professional decision, or applying an educational principle in a real lesson. The Association connects philosophy, resources, conversation, and professional support to the everyday work teachers actually do.

The Association exists to help music teachers deepen their musicianship, strengthen their teaching, exercise professional judgment, learn with colleagues, and build rewarding lives in music education. When teachers flourish, they are better able to help students flourish as well.
