Courses for Music Teachers
Schedules, Options, and Tuition
Music teachers must be Teacher Members of The Dennis Frayne Association for Music Education in order to enroll in certification and other courses. Membership serves as the entry point into The Dennis Frayne Approach to Music Education certification and courses.
Membership and course tuition are separate. Active Teacher Membership provides participation in the Association and eligibility for certification. Enrollment in certification courses requires separate tuition, which includes the instructional materials needed for the course. Curriculum and teaching materials intended for use with students are purchased separately as needed.
Courses through the Association are offered in one-year, six-month, and quarterly formats.
Course Formats
Certification courses are organized by sessions rather than instructional weeks. The number of sessions and instructional hours remains the same when a course is offered in different calendar formats.
For Level 1 & Level 2 Certification:
One-Year Format: 44 two-hour sessions scheduled across 52 weeks, including designated break weeks.
Six-Month Format: 44 two-hour sessions completed across approximately 26 weeks on an accelerated schedule.
Both formats provide 44 sessions and 88 instructional hours. Teachers complete the same curriculum and certification requirements in either format.
88-hour Courses
An 88-hour course includes 44 two-hour sessions. In the one-year format, the course spans 52 weeks, with one session scheduled during each of 44 weeks and 8 break weeks. In the six-month format, the course spans 26 weeks, with two sessions scheduled during each of 22 weeks and 4 break weeks. Both formats provide the same 44 sessions and 88 instructional hours.
One-year courses take place over the 12 months from September to August. Six-month courses take place over the 6 months from September to February, or December to May.

44-hour Courses
A 44-hour course includes 22 two-hour sessions. In the six-month format, one session is scheduled during each of 22 weeks, with 4 break weeks. In the quarterly format, two sessions are scheduled during each of 11 weeks, with 2 break weeks.
Six-month courses take place over the 6 months from September to February, or December to May. Quarterly courses take place over the 3 months from September to November, December to February, March to May, or June to August.

22-hour Courses
A 22-hour course includes 11 two-hour sessions. In the quarterly format, one session is scheduled during each of 11 weeks, with 2 break weeks.
Quarterly courses take place over the 3 months from September to November, December to February, March to May, or June to August.
Tuition: $549
What's Included
Course tuition includes the online course curriculum, instructional materials, assignments, and other resources required for the selected certification course. These materials support your own professional study and preparation as a teacher. Curriculum and teaching materials intended for use with students are purchased separately as needed, allowing teachers to acquire the resources appropriate for their own studios, classrooms, and teaching situations.

The complete number of scheduled course sessions: 44 sessions for an 88-hour course, 22 sessions for a 44-hour course, or 11 sessions for a 22-hour course.
Access to the online course curriculum, materials, assignments, and educational resources required for the course.
All assessments and evaluation of certification requirements.
Certification upon successful completion of all course requirements. (There are no additional certification fees.)
Additional Materials
Some required books and other instructional materials are purchased separately by the member. Any required materials will be identified before the course begins.
Tuition and Enrollment
To reserve a place in the course, tuition is paid in full before the course begins. Because the Association commits instructors, educational resources, and course planning in advance based on confirmed enrollment, tuition is non-refundable once enrollment is finalized. Additional details and important enrollment dates are provided during the registration process.
